Portishead - "Machine Gun"

Wow. It's really, finally, actually happening. Portishead's Third is made, and it's coming out. In a little over a month. We've got no idea if this single's indicative of anything, but it sounds like the band's still fond of the nocturnal and otherworldly, and Beth Gibbons still sounds as pained as she did in 1994. All good signs, in our estimation.

The video's not the coolest thing we've ever seen, but it's also about what we'd expected from such a reclusive band. We're surprised they allowed director John Minton to even turn the lights on in the studio, though it looks like they might've compromised there.
